BUILDING SUSTAINABLE SUPER |
|
Vision Super recognises the importance of integrating sustainability and social responsibility into our everyday operations. Vision Super is an active member of a number of organisations promoting sustainability in the superannuation industry including:
Vision Super is also a member of the national CitySwitch Green Office program.
We recognise the importance of an appropriate regulatory environment to achieving positive outcomes for environmental issues and sustainable development. We are committed to relevant environmental laws and regulations as a minimum level of performance and we will challenge ourselves to exceed these standards in key areas.
We have established an Environmental Policy and other documentation that guide our environmental commitment and management practices. These documents will be continually reviewed to ensure that Vision Super stays in touch with emerging environmental issues, the changing business and regulatory environment and the views of its stakeholders. We will uphold the values and commitments to reducing our environmental footprint by pursuing better practice in environmental management and sustainable development.
In May 2010 we established our internal sustainability group, VisionGREEN. The primary purpose of the VisionGREEN team is to be the environment’s advocate in Vision Super’s business activities. This occurs through research and recommendations to management, of ways Vision Super can introduce green initiatives, be sustainable and environmentally-friendly, thereby reducing its carbon footprint. Vision Super is now a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI), and has given an undertaking that it will:
Report our activities towards implementing the Principles. Therefore Vision Super expects all of its investment managers to incorporate ESG issues into their decision making processes. We encourage existing managers to sign up to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment (UNPRI). Vision Super engages Generation Investment Management, chaired by Al Gore, as part of our core international equities portfolio. Also, fund manager Baillie Gifford, one of the top ten ESG-ranked managers (according to research commissioned by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC)), is part of our core portfolio.
Vision Super Rankings In The Climate Institute March 2010 Survey, Vision ranked third overall with a No.1 ranking in terms of active ownership, collaborative initiatives and member engagement.
